X Men First Class

In ‘Clash of the Titans,’ the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” is a 2009 action film directed by Gavin Hood. Starring Hugh Jackman as loner Logan, the film chronicles his early history as young James…his time served in war that spans decades…and the decision that will forever change his life…siding with William Stryker and volunteering for the ‘Weapon X’ project.

With the first X-Men movie Hugh Jackman took the Wolverine role and owned it. Reason enough to see this flick. I don’t know much about director Gavin Hood, but the previews and commercials look seriously awesome. I’m officially pumped for this flick. OK, saw it opening night. The action was great, but most of the supporting characters (except for Striker and Sabertooth) were only used as plot devices and a lot of it didn’t make any sense making for an empty experience. However, I liked it for what it was and chalk this one up as a guilty pleasure.

It is late 12th century England and Sir Robin Locksley, Earl of Huntington, (Russell Crowe) has returned to his northern English village of Nottingham after fighting in the Third Crusade. Upon arrival, the nobleman and his servant discover the oppression caused by the new Sheriff of Nottingham (Matthew Macfadyen). Sir Robin frees his home village from tyranny and corruption in England, restoring peace and justice to England. Robin must also win the affection of the recently widowed Lady Marian (Cate Blanchett) while leading his Merry Men of Sherwood Forest

Producer Sam Raimi (the “Spider-Man” film series) brings audiences the terrifying thriller “30 Days of Night,” set in the isolated town of Barrow, Alaska, in the extreme northern hemisphere, which is plunged into complete darkness annually for an entire month. When most of the inhabitants head south for the winter, a mysterious group of strangers appear: bloodthirsty vampires, ready to take advantage of the uninterrupted darkness to feed on the town’s residents. As the night wears on, Barrow’s Sheriff Eben (Josh Hartnett), his estranged wife Stella (Melissa George), and an ever-shrinking group of survivors must do anything they can to last until daylight.
